River Caddis acquired its name from Caddis flies, or Trichoptera, a group of mothlike aquatic insects, usually found in freshwater habitats. Caddis flies are important to freshwater ecosystems as they clean the water and serve as an important food for fish, particularly trout. The founders of River Caddis Development, LLC are avid fly-fishers and conservationists.
